　　Q：李晟曌

　　A：陈陈陈

　　1. 艺术对你而言，是什么?艺术创作对于你来说，是否存在清晰的目的?是否存在清晰的方法呢?

　　陈陈陈：艺术对我而言是一种语言，艺术创作就像写诗，虽然我还没有掌握清楚这门语言的语法，也更没什么诗的概念，但是能确定的是我的确存在一些有待表达的“念想”，他们需要被“实现”，算的上清晰的目的，但是不能用来回答“你这个作品想表达什么?”。也有一些清晰的方法，我个人的工作习惯，先做什么后做什么，但是那也是融入了日常生活的东西，没办法单独抽离出来。

　　2. 你的创作和“社会”是处在什么一种关系中?你日常是处在一个忙碌还是悠闲的状态中，你会如何看待这个状态对你创作的影响?

　　陈陈陈：取材于社会那是肯定的，但是我也看不出有什么作用于社会的可能性，我日常处于相对忙碌的状态，我觉得很不好，应该静下来，好好创作，疲于奔命心浮气躁。

　　3. 对于整个社会的视觉生产(大众媒体、景观化、品牌等等)机制，你是什么态度，在创作中是否有做出过回应?

　　陈陈陈：我对大众媒体是没有什么敌意的，虽然我肯定对他不满意，但是这个现状认清就好了，首要要确认自己不会成为主流，即使不小心成了主流，也是“被消费”了的意义上的成为了主流，因为你的思维方式不太一样。然后再去吸取营养，谦虚一些，不要螳臂当车。

　　A：Chen Chenchen

　　1、What,in your opinion, is art? Does artistic practice for you possess any clearly defined goals? Are there any specific methodologies involved? (At what times do such things take effect? When don’t they?)

　　Chen Chenchen：For me art is a kind of language, where making work is akin to writing poetry. Although I haven’t yet mastered its grammar and lack any real notion of poetics, I feel certain there still remain certain “notions”I have yet to express. What they need is to be “realised”, to become something that amounts to a distinct aim in itself. Still, even this still won’t answer the question of “what the work’s supposed to mean?” There are certain methods I’ve already more or less come to terms with, my own tendencies in working. I do something, I do something else. These things are at the same time all also fully integrated with my daily life. It’s impossible to isolate them in any way.

　　2、Whatkind of relations does your practice engage in with “society”? In an everyday context, do you tend to go about things diligently or in a more leisurely way?How do you feel this attitude influences your work?

　　Chen Chenchen：It’s true that I rely on society for raw material. I don’t however see what possible effect my work might have.

　　My lifestyle is usually quite hectic. I’m not fond of this, I really ought to mellow down, focus on my work. Tiring yourself out with too much hard graft makes a person agitated.

　　3、What is your view of the collective mechanisms of visual production at work in oursocieties (mass media, spectacle, branding and so on)? Have you in your workmade anything in response to this?

　　Chen Chenchen：I have nothing against the mass media. Although I’mdefinitely dissatisfied with their mechanisms. As long as one remains vigilant that’s enough. It’s paramount we make sure not to go along with the status quo.If one loses vigilance one runs this risk, being “consumed”, in a sense, all the more so if you see the world differently. Other than this, you just have tomake sure you’re nourished, to be modest and not get on your high horse about things.

　　多亲切啊，这座孤独的山，还有这道篱笆挡住视线，遮住了大部分终极的地平线。可是，当我在此静坐凝望，我想象中显现了远方的无限空间，呈现了超人间的安宁，和无比深沉的寂静，几乎使我的心充满惊恐。当我听得枝叶间簌簌风声，我把这喧声与那无限静寂相比;我回忆起了永恒，已死的时令和当前的活的时令，以及它的声息......我的思想啊，在这无限中沉没，——在这大海中沉船是多么甜蜜!

　　It’s so welcoming, this desolate mountain scene, this fenced path,channelling the gaze, concealing for the most part any extremes of contour.When I sit quietly and focus on it however, in my imagination there arises a limitlessness, one of far of places, this and an inhuman quiet, a solitude so unparalleled it fills me with a sort of dread. When I hear the rustling of the wind between leaves, I compare its sound with the remoteness and recollect eternity, all those moments passed, the present, their chatter … All notion drowns in this limitless —How serene the boat that sinks into such a sea!
